inbento 2.54 Story

inbento is made by Afterburn, a small studio led by Łukasz Spierewka, also known for Golf Peaks. It first came out on phones in 2019 and is now on Mac, PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and mobile. Each puzzle gives you a few pieces of food and a picture of the finished bento. You rotate, move and place the pieces in the right order to recreate the recipe. As you progress, new mechanics let you swap, remove and copy ingredients, which makes the puzzles trickier. Between chapters, a wordless story about a cat family and parenthood plays out in small scenes. A full playthrough takes roughly 2 hours or more.

How to Play inbento 2.54

Each level shows you a picture of a finished bento box and gives you a few pieces of food. Your job is to recreate that picture by placing the pieces in the right way and in the right order. Look at the target picture. It shows how the finished lunch box should look. Notice which foods end up on top, because pieces placed later cover earlier ones. Pick up a food piece. Each piece has a shape, and some cover more than one square. Move and rotate it. Turn the piece and position it over the box so the right squares get covered. Place pieces in order. Order matters: the last piece placed sits on top. Often you need to work out which piece goes down first. Use special tools in later levels. New mechanics appear as you progress, such as pieces that swap, remove or copy ingredients. These change what’s already in the box instead of simply covering it. Match the picture to finish. When your box matches the target, the recipe is complete and you move on.
