868-BACK 244 Story

868-BACK follows a retired hacker once known as the best of the best, whose reasons for quitting the world of high-stakes cybercrime remain the subject of rumor some say their will was broken by dark secrets at the heart of the Mainframe, others say they simply retired to a penthouse suite in Low Earth Orbit. When an old enemy calls in need of help, the Hacker is pulled back into action, setting out to dismantle the MegaCorps' grip on the Net one server at a time and, ultimately, to find the lost Mainframe itself.

868-BACK 244 Gameplay

ameplay centers on tight, turn-based tactical encounters within procedurally generated computer servers, each represented as a compact grid rather than a sprawling dungeon. Players use stolen hacking programs called progs as both weapons and utility tools, carefully weighing every move since permadeath means a string of failures sends the mission back to square one. Progression comes from picking up new tricks across runs and using the MegaCorps' own code against them, building toward the ultimate goal of locating the Mainframe.

How to Play 868-BACK 244

Launch the game and begin your mission as the returning hacker, learning the basics through the built-in tutorial. Enter a procedurally generated server and carefully plan each move on its compact tactical grid. Collect and use progs (hacking programs) as both offensive tools and utility abilities against enemy defenses. Steal data from servers while managing risk, since accumulating too many disconnections sends your mission back to the start. Learn from each run's mistakes, since permadeath means every encounter demands careful, deliberate tactical thinking. Track your progress and compare runs using Steam Leaderboards and Achievements as you push toward finding the Mainframe.

868-BACK 244 Controls

Keyboard and mouse: standard input for grid navigation, prog selection, and menu interaction Full controller support: officially listed as a supported input method for the same tactical controls Turn-based input: each action is deliberate and grid-based rather than real-time, suited to both keyboard/mouse and controller play No complex hotkey set beyond core movement and prog-use commands, consistent with the game's tactical, turn-based design
