Echo, an enby witch and newly graduated necromancer, inherits their late grandmother's apartment, along with a dead balcony garden in desperate need of reviving. As the newest member of the Greenhearth co-op community, Echo must bring the garden back to life through a mix of necromantic spells, potions, and ordinary gardening, while getting to know quirky neighbors and building a relationship with Compostifer, their grandmother's familiar spirit. Woven through the story are themes of inheritance, grief, and finding one's place in a new community, with the developer noting the game addresses death, loss, and terminal illness directly.

Greenhearth Necromancer blends semi-idle plant care with light RPG-style progression and visual novel storytelling. Players tend a mix of living and undead plants, each responding individually to sunlight and water, while unlocking necromantic spells through Novice Spell Rituals and brewing potions to support their gardening efforts.
