Spectral Gate 2.0.0 Mac Overview
Key Features
Frequency-Selective Gating with FFT It analyses and gates individual frequency bins, rather than the whole signal at once. This allows precise isolation of transients, noise or reverb tail cleanup and creative texture shaping that is impossible with a standard broadband gate. Threshold Curve Editor drag individual points to fine shape or move the whole curve at once for quick global adjustments with a fullscreen view for maximum editing precision add a custom threshold curve with an infinite number of points. Range Control Controls how much gated (suppressed) frequency content is blended back into the signal. Low range = tighter gating, removing more frequencies. High range = more suppressed content blended back in, creating smoother textures. Smooth Control Determines the character of the gate transition, from sharp, well-defined gating at low settings to glassy, click-free, musical transitions at high settings, as frequencies cross the threshold. Input SC (Sidechain) This allows you to creatively use an external audio source to control the frequency analysis of the gate. For example, you can duck a specific frequency range with another track, or rhythmically open and close the spectral content of the gate with a drum or vocal track . Tilt Control It works like a shelf-eq for gate sensitivity. Leaning into low frequencies makes the gate tighter and cleaner on bass content while keeping the highs more open. Leaning into high frequencies does the reverse. Dry/Wet Mix Add some character without losing the punch of the original signal by mixing anywhere between the fully dry (unprocessed) signal and the fully wet (gated) signal. Genre-Specific Presets Practical starting points, genre relevant, can be found in the included presets Bongo, Clean Bass, Drums, Experimental Bass, Man Vocal, and Melody, then fine tune further. Processing that preserves phase Designed to tighten up a mix without messing up phase relationships, artist feedback indicates, keeping processed material sounding coherent rather than smeared or artefact heavy.
