Orra Collider Mac 1.0.0, from Orra Audio, is a spectral collision synthesiser that creates full patches with one click and includes 8 collision modes, a 256-frame wavetable engine, six BIAS dials for steering, and full MPE support with an arpeggiator and step sequencer.

Orra Audio Orra Collider 1.0.0 Overview

Orra Collider is a spectral collision synthesizer for macOS with a core idea that sets it apart from typical subtractive or wavetable synths: Two oscillator sources, A and B, are not simply mixed together. Instead, they are broken down into their spectral partials and smashed together in a bin-by-bin fashion in a spectral chamber, governed by one of 8 collision modes that define the physics of how the two sources interact – Impact clangs them together, Absorb eats holes in one source using the other, Fuse welds them into a single unified voice, and Fracture tears the resulting spectrum apart and reassembles it deliberately wrong. The killer workflow feature of the plugin is its patch generator: rather than designing a sound from scratch, users select an IDEA – Pluck, Bass, Pad, 808, Texture and more – hit GENERATE and Collider creates a complete patch from scratch, including sources, collision mode, filter, effects, envelopes, modulation routing and voicing all in one go. There are six BIAS dials that enable users to steer the character of the next generated roll without having to micromanage individual parameters. A DRIFT control determines how close a new roll stays to the current patch versus how much it varies. Lock the sections that already sound good, pull DRIFT down for subtle variation, or push it up for something further afield, then hit GENERATE again. Under generator Orra Collider is a full-fledged flagship synth in its own right: 12 oscillator types and a 256-frame wavetable engine complete with an editor, 4 envelopes, 4 LFOs, 18 modulation sources you can drag directly onto any knob, a step sequencer, a note-level arpeggiator with 9 orders and a paintable pattern mode, full MPE support, a proper FX rack, and 100 factory presets. Orra Collider is a 64-bit VSTi3 plugin. Version 1.0.0 is the first release. The plugin is available for download directly from the official Orra Audio website.

Key Features

Spectral Collision Chamber Instead of simply mixing two oscillator sources, in a spectral chamber they are broken down into individual spectral partials and collided bin-for-bin. This creates textures and interactions that are not available from a standard mixer-based approach. 8 Modes of Crash You can select from 8 different collision physics: Impact (clangs sources together), Absorb (one source eats holes in the other), Fuse (welds spectra into a single voice) and Fracture (tears the spectrum apart and reassembles it wrong on purpose), each of which creates a fundamentally different sonic result. Create Patch with One Click Select an IDEA — Pluck, Bass, Pad, 808, Texture, etc. — and hit GENERATE to instantly get a full playable patch with sources, collision mode, filter, effects, envelopes, modulation and voicing all set at once. Six BIAS Dials Instead of hand-tuning individual parameters, use six BIAS dials to guide the character of the next generated patch, coherently influencing dozens of underlying decisions with a single adjustment. DRIFT Controlled Variation Lock in sections of a patch that sound good and then use DRIFT to control how much the next roll will change it. Low DRIFT for subtle tweaking, high DRIFT for a more dramatic change. 256 Frame Wavetable Engine with Editor You get a full wavetable engine with 256 frames , and a full editor . 12 total oscillator types . Control over sound design manually beyond the generator . Large Modulation System Drag any of 18 modulation sources directly onto any knob, supported by 4 envelopes and 4 LFOs, for a truly deep and flexible modulation architecture. MPE Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer Features a note-level arpeggiator with 9 orders and a paintable pattern mode, a dedicated step sequencer, and full MPE support for expressive per-note performance control. How to Use Orra Audio Orra Collider 1.0.0

Step 1: Get Orra Collider Orra Collider by Orra Audio is a Virtual Effect Audio Plugin for macOS. It functions as a 64-bit VSTi3 Plugin. 2. Installing and Activating the Plugin Then install Orra Collider and load it as an instrument track in your DAW. Step 3: Make Your First Patch Choose an IDEA from the generator console – Pluck, Bass, Pad, 808, Texture or anything else – and hit GENERATE for an instant full patch. 4. Guide the Sound with BIAS Knobs Adjust the six BIAS dials to affect the character of your next generated roll before pressing GENERATE again. Step 5: Lock & Drift to Refine Lock in the parts of the patch that you want to keep, then use DRIFT to control how much variation the next roll introduces, and roll again until it sounds right. Step 6: Manually explore collision modes When you get a base patch, try out the 8 collision modes directly and hear how each one reshapes the interaction between your two oscillator sources. Step 7: Explore the Wavetable Engine 256 frame wavetable editor. Manually edit oscillator content that the generator didn't automatically create. Step 8: Work out modulation and rhythm Route modulation to certain knobs and configure the arpeggiator or step sequencer for rhythmic movement (if your controller supports MPE, you get it for free). Step 9: Wrap up with the FX Rack Shape your finished sound with the built-in FX rack or browse the 100 factory presets for more inspiration and starting points.
