Synplant 2 by Sonic Charge is a genetic software synthesizer that grows sounds organically from a seed. The update includes Genopatch, an artificial intelligence tool that turns any audio recording into a synth patch, a redesigned DNA Editor and full backward compatibility with original Synplant patches.

Synplant 2 2.0.2 For Mac Overview

Synplant 2 is a genetic software synthesizer that works by exploration, rather than by traditional parameter tweaking. Users grow and evolve sounds organically, not by endlessly tweaking knobs. You start with a “seed” (a brown bulb with 12 gently waving sprouts, one for each key in the chromatic scale) and let new sonic variations grow from it, driven by curiosity rather than a fixed synthesis workflow. Version 2 adds a headline feature: Genopatch, a machine-learning technology that Sonic Charge spent years cracking, with many failed experiments. Genopatch analyzes any audio recording and uses it as a seed for a synth patch , intelligently synthesizing settings that closely resemble the character of the source sound . Running Genopatch multiple times on the same source will yield different variations – from close recreations of the original sound, to totally new, inspiring textures. You can’t get a specific result exactly on demand, because it’s a generative process. Under the unusual interface, Synplant 2 is a 2-operator FM synth with a multimode filter. To call it that doesn’t do it justice as it has a truly unique character. The redesigned DNA Editor provides a structured graphical view of the 48-gene interface that governs envelopes, oscillator types and filters, with rotary controls added in v2. It’s a unique synthesis vocabulary — nothing like Massive, Serum or Vital — so expect a little learning curve before it all makes sense. Everything runs on the machine , no internet connection required. Synplant 2 is available as a standalone app, VST 2.4, VST3 and Audio Unit 2 plugin for Mac (Intel and Apple Silicon) and all patches from the original Synplant are fully compatible.

Key Features

Genopatch AI Patch Generator You can take any audio recording and use it as a seed to generate a synth patch. Genopatch will intelligently generate synth settings that capture the character of the source sound, creating different creative variations on each pass. Genetic Sound Growth Interface It grows and evolves in a natural way from a seed, rather than typing in each parameter. There are 12 sprouts around the seed, one for each key of the chromatic scale. New DNA Editor Graphical layout of 48 gene interface showing envelopes, oscillator types, filters etc. Some rotary controls have been added in version 2 for more precise adjustment. 2-Operator FM Synthesis Engine Underneath Synplant 2’s distinctive interface is a 2-operator FM synthesis engine with multimode filter. This gives it a more direct, pointed tonal character than bigger, denser sounding synths. Regeneration of Sprout. Instead of starting over, selectively refine a patch. Hold Ctrl/Cmd and click a note near the seed's circle to create a new random sprout for that note. Expression Change on Note Different MIDI notes and velocity levels give natural variations over the instrument, which make performances feel more organic and less static than typical synth patches. Complete Backward Compatibility Patches created in the original Synplant remain fully compatible with Synplant 2, letting long-time users bring their existing sound library forward into the rewritten engine. AI Processing On Device, Off-line Genopatch runs everything on your Mac, so your data is private and you can use it offline. No internet connection is required to build AI-assisted patches. Multi-Format Plugins Support Runs as stand-alone app, VST 2.4, VST3 and Audio Unit 2 plugin on Mac, with native support for Intel and Apple Silicon processor.

How to Use Synplant 2 2.0.2 For Mac

Step 1: Download Synplant 2 Download Synplant 2 from macospace.com. Step 2: Choose Your Format & Install Install the stand-alone application or the plug-in format you prefer (VST 2.4, VST3 or Audio Unit 2), whichever you use in your workflow. Step 3: Begin with a Seed Generate your first patch from a random seed, a preset already created or an audio recording processed with Genopatch. Step 4: Test Genopatch with your own audio Feed a short audio recording (up to about 2 seconds of key timbral content) into Genopatch to generate a patch that captures the character of that sound. Step 5: Play With Sprout Types Interact with the sprouts around the seed, holding Ctrl/Cmd and clicking a specific note to regenerate a new random variation for just that note. Step 6: Fine-tuning DNA editor Open the DNA Editor to adjust the underlying 48-gene structure directly, using the graphical layout and rotary controls to shape envelopes, oscillators, and filters precisely. 7. Play And Listen For Natural Variation Try playing on other MIDI notes and different velocity levels to hear the expressiveness of the patch and how it responds differently depending on how you play. Step 8: Save Your Patch Save any sound you like as a patch for later use. (Note: Re-generating Genopatch results will not give you the same output twice.) 9. Add existing patches from Synplant 1 If you’re upgrading from the original Synplant, full backward compatibility is supported so you can load your existing patch library straight away.
