Orra Ducker is a spectral sidechain ducking plugin developed by Orra Audio, a small startup built by producers aiming to solve a specific, common mixing headache: clearing frequency clashes between two sounds without ducking an entire signal. Where traditional sidechain compression turns down a whole track whenever it's triggered, Orra Ducker runs an FFT analysis across roughly 1,000 frequency bins and only reduces the specific frequencies where two signals actually collide — letting a kick drum carve space inside a bass part, for example, without pulling down the rest of the bass line. What the developer specifically set out to fix wasn't ducking itself, since similar spectral tools already exist, but the routing around it. Running several ducking instances on one track, each keyed from a different source, is normally fiddly and different in every DAW, requiring aux tracks and bus juggling. Orra Ducker bundles its own companion sender, Orra Link, directly into the plugin, letting any instance pick its sidechain trigger from a simple dropdown by track name, with up to roughly 37 sidechain sources able to feed a single track using one consistent workflow across every DAW. Orra Ducker 1.0.0, the plugin's initial release, is available for Mac and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats. It includes four selectable delay/quality modes ranging from a zero-latency Live mode for monitoring up to a higher-quality HQ mode for final rendering, along with a drawable focus band and resolution control for shaping exactly how surgical or broad the ducking effect is.

Run the installer, which will also install the bundled Orra Link 2 companion sender automatically. Place Orra Link on the track containing the source you want to duck against (for example, a kick drum track). Insert Orra Ducker on the track you want to duck (for example, a bass track). Open Orra Ducker's sidechain picker and select your Orra Link source by its track name from the dropdown. Draw a focus band on the frequency display to target the specific range where the two sounds clash. Adjust the resolution control to choose between a narrow, surgical cut or a wider, smoother ducking slope. Select a delay/quality mode — HQ, Balanced, Fast, or Live — based on whether you're tracking live or finalizing a mix. Stack additional Orra Ducker instances on the same track if you need to duck against multiple different sources at once.
