Modeled 20 Cassette Recorders TS-440 recreates the preamp characteristics, EQ topology, and head response of 20 real cassette machines, each contributing a genuinely different tonal balance, saturation style, and transient behavior rather than functioning as interchangeable skins over one algorithm. Four Tape Formulation Choose from Type I Ferric, Type II Chrome, Type III Ferrichrome, and Type IV Metal tape types, each providing a different style of compression and saturation that will react differently based on the selected machine. Preamp Stage Overdrivable Cranking the input pushes each modeled preamp into harmonic saturation, letting engineers dial in anything from subtle warmth to aggressive analog overdrive, or bypass the tape stage entirely to use TS-440 purely as a channel strip. Deep Tape Deterioration Controls Independently adjust tape aging, head wear, drift, wow and flutter, dropouts, and hiss to simulate years of mechanical wear, ranging from small imperfections that add movement to extreme settings that break the signal into fully unstable, degraded textures. Three Speeds of Tape Switch between three playback speeds, each affecting frequency response, noise level, and modulation character — slower speeds increase saturation, hiss, and instability, while faster speeds retain more clarity. Pitch and Playback Control Adjust playback pitch for detuned, warped effects reminiscent of manually manipulating a real cassette deck, tying naturally into the plugin's broader transport-emulation behavior. 33 Factory Presets TS-440 ships with 33 presets covering its full range, from clean studio-master tones to fully destroyed lo-fi effects, usable as-is or as starting points for custom sound design. Reduced, Dynamically Updating Latency Following the 1.1.0 update, plugin latency is reduced overall and now updates dynamically whenever the tape stage is bypassed, keeping timing accurate whether the tape emulation is active or not.
