Rapid Flow omniGRID 1.0.1 Overview

omniGRID is a 16-track MIDI step sequencer plugin from Rapid Flow, billed as the company’s new flagship sequencer. Rapid Flow says it was designed for “total rhythmic expression, polymetric sequencing and vintage hardware groove emulation,” and it builds on the capabilities of the company’s earlier four-lane miniGRID. Like miniGRID, it doesn’t make sound itself: it sends MIDI to the instruments or hardware you already use. The plugin gives each of its 16 tracks up to 64 steps, with each track able to have its own pattern length from 4 to 64 steps, which makes complex polyrhythmic patterns easy to build. Euclidean rhythm generation works per track, with pulses and offsets that can be layered with manually placed steps. Six per-step graph lanes control velocity, note length, shift, probability, repeats, and repeat interval, so a simple pattern can evolve into something unexpected. Real-time scale and key quantization, with 12 keys and 7 scales, keeps melodies and arpeggios in tune. Eight built-in shuffle modes, which can be applied globally or per track, emulate the timing feel of classic drum machines and sequencers, and each track has a ±64 ms timing shift for microtiming. Finished patterns can be dragged out as MIDI straight into a DAW.

Key Features

Per-Track Euclidean Sequencing Euclidean pulses and offsets can be set per track and layered with manually placed steps, combining generative and hand-programmed rhythms. Real-Time Scale and Key Quantization Notes can be locked to one of 12 keys and 7 scales in real time, keeping chords, arpeggios, and basslines in tune. Six Per-Step Graph Lanes Velocity, length, shift, probability, repeats, and interval can each be edited per step in graph lanes, giving fine control over every note. Eight Shuffle Modes Eight built-in shuffle modes, applied globally or per track, give patterns a more human, hardware-inspired feel. ±64 ms Timing Shift Per Track Each track can be nudged forward or back in time for microtiming, with a global master that moves all tracks together. Drag-and-Drop MIDI Export Patterns can be dragged straight into a DAW as MIDI clips. Per-Track Gain, Mute, and Solo Each track has its own gain, mute, and solo controls, and patterns and tracks can be copied and pasted. Host Automation and MIDI Mapping Parameters can be automated from the host and mapped to MIDI controllers. Resizable Interface with Light and Dark Themes The interface scales from 50% to 400% and comes in light and dark themes.

How to Use Rapid Flow omniGRID 1.0.1

Install the plugin in AU, VST3, or AAX format on your Mac. Load omniGRID in your DAW (on an instrument or MIDI track, depending on your host’s routing). Route its MIDI output to a synth, sampler, drum plugin, or external hardware. Set a pattern length for each track, from 4 to 64 steps. Add manual steps and layer Euclidean pulses and offsets on each track. Choose a key and scale so melodies and arpeggios stay in tune. Shape individual steps with the graph lanes for velocity, length, shift, probability, repeats, and interval. Pick a shuffle mode, nudge tracks with the timing shift, and drag the finished pattern into your DAW as MIDI.
