Mercury Weather is a hyper-local weather prediction app for macOS that is also available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Vision Pro as a universal purchase across Apple platforms. It has minimalist icons and gradient colours instead of generic weather icons and cluttered layouts to communicate conditions at a glance. The Mac version shows current temperature, humidity, wind speed, UV index, hourly forecast and daily forecast all on one screen. It also comes with a menu bar app that can be enabled or disabled depending on preference. The Mac version has a similar interface to the iPad, with the added convenience of the menu bar being there – click it to get a text description of current conditions, the forecast high and low for the day, and four-hour and four-day forecast graphs without having to open the full app window. Version 3.0 introduced a major new feature: hurricane and tropical storm tracking, with real-time positions, forecast cones, and recent tracks for the Atlantic and Pacific, configurable Storm widgets by basin, and tide forecasts for U.S. coastal locations. Weather users can keep track of the weather in several cities and pin favourites, and widgets for the Home Screen, Lock Screen and menu bar show current conditions and short-term forecasts without opening the app. New weather map layers for fire activity, air quality, UV, and temperature, and more hourly detail for pressure and visibility. Added a Sun Graph to Monthly Averages to show sunrise, sunset, and daylight length changes throughout the year. New 5-hour and 5-day forecast layout options. Travel temperature support showing both a user’s preferred unit and the local unit in daily forecasts, not just hourly ones. Mercury Weather for Mac is free to download and offers in-app purchases.
