Bloom is a file manager for Mac that looks and feels like Finder but adds the power-user features Finder is missing. It’s for anyone who moves lots of files between folders and drives, works with many images, or is frustrated by Finder’s window juggling and slow search.

Bloom 1.5.46 Overview

Bloom is made by indie developer Inchman, who updates it often and listens closely to user feedback. It doesn’t reinvent file management. Instead, it keeps Finder’s familiar look and adds a lot more functionality. The headline feature is a multi-pane layout: open several folders side by side in one window. You can save favorite layouts as workspaces, and Sync Browsing shows a folder’s contents in a second pane as you browse. Search works differently from Finder. Bloom searches the actual file system instead of Spotlight’s index, so brand-new or just-downloaded files show up right away. Press Tab to start searching from anywhere in the app.

How to Use Bloom 1.5.46

Download Bloom Move Bloom to your Applications folder and open it. Grant Full Disk Access in System Settings → Privacy & Security if you want to use tags. Optional: follow the developer’s user guide to make Bloom your default file manager. This needs a Terminal command and a restart. Enter your license after the 7-day trial.
