Iris is a high-performance screen recorder for macOS, designed specifically for recording screencasts for application or game demos, tutorials, and any other kind of instructional video. Rather than a simple screen to file capture, Iris writes directly to h.264 or Apple ProRes, utilizing on-board GPU acceleration where possible to maintain a high quality recording without taxing the system during capture. Iris has the ability to record from a Mac’s webcam, and up to two audio sources – the built-in microphone and the computer’s system audio (extra components required, details on developer’s website) – making it equally suitable for presenter-style tutorials as well as basic screen captures. Recordings can be saved as finished live in a History window. Encoded with a codec of your choice and shared directly via Email, Messages, Facebook or Vimeo. Version 1.7.5 May 6, 2025 - Improved audio handling. Sample rate mismatches between audio inputs will no longer be reported as warnings, and there is now an option to mix the Left and Right channels of an input together (useful when recording a stereo interface through a single microphone.) Comprehensive permission settings have been added to Recording Settings. Iris requires macOS 10.14.4 or higher. The app is free to try but the trial version adds a watermark to the recordings. You can remove the watermark by purchasing the app from within the app.

How to Use Download Iris: Screen Recorder 1.7.5

Step 1: Obtain Iris Download Iris from macospace.com. Step 2:Install & Grant Permissions Open Iris, give the permissions macOS asks for (screen recording, camera, microphone), you can do this in the app’s detailed permissions if you need to. Step 3: Select Your Recording Format Select h.264 for smaller file sizes, or Apple ProRes for maximum flexibility in editing. Step 4: Set Up Webcam & Audio Sources You can add presenter overlay by enabling webcam capture. Configure your recording with up to two audio sources – your microphone and system audio. Step 5: Set up Hotkeys and Timers Configure hotkeys for fast start/stop/pause or configure timers for automatic start/stop recording. Step 6 : Begin recording Record your app demo, game or full tutorial with webcam and voiceover. Step 7: Look in the History Panel When done , you can see your recording in the History window . If needed , you can encode it using your favorite codec . Step 8: Upload the recording Once you’ve finished recording, you can share it directly from Iris, via Email, Messages, Facebook or Vimeo, without having to export and manually re-upload.
