Presentify - Screen Annotation 8.1.2 Overview

Presentify is a menu bar app for screen annotation on macOS to assist presenters, educators and content creators in drawing, highlighting and zooming on-screen during presentations, online classes and video tutorials. Rather than moving away from the app being shared, Presentify layers drawing and annotation tools right on top of it — sketch arrows and boxes over PDFs, slides, websites or video, then hide annotations instantly when a clean screen is needed again. A floating control panel handles tool and colour switching, and can be dragged out of the way or hidden altogether while recording. In addition to freehand pen and highlighter modes, Presentify has a dedicated whiteboard layer to explain ideas without marking up the app underneath. It also includes Cursor Highlight, drawing a circle, square or rhombus around the pointer, with optional click animations for product demos. The app works with Keynote, PowerPoint, browsers, code editors and drawing tablets from Wacom, XP-Pen and similar brands. With Sidecar/Astropad support, an iPad and Apple Pencil can send input to the Mac directly. Presentify is a true native, lightweight macOS app that weighs in at only 1MB for download, uses an average of only 25MB of memory and has negligible impact on your CPU. 8.1.2 is a maintenance release that improves annotation reliability. It follows 8.1.0, which added the ability to copy annotated screens directly to the clipboard and added copy/paste support for annotations, and 8.0.4, which improved Interactive Mode. Presentify requires permission to record your screen to run (it takes screenshots and draws over other windows) and current builds are for MacOS Ventura and up.

Key Features

Screen Drawing & Annotation Overlay Annotate, highlight and draw directly on top of any shared screen content — images, videos, PDFs, code, slides or websites — without having to switch out of the current app. Interactive Mode Presentify doesn’t take over the screen, it opens in the background and allows the user to work normally on the apps underneath and annotate by holding down the key they want (Fn or Caps Lock). Cursor selection Draws a circle, square or rhombus around your mouse pointer to orient viewers while you share your screen Optional click animations pulse on right click for product demos Exclusive Whiteboard Mode Present on a white or custom-colored board (like green or red) instead of marking up the underlying app, useful for explaining ideas from scratch rather than annotating existing content. Multi-Screen Support Annotate across multiple connected displays, with session, undo/redo stack, colours, and controls for each display saved and preserved when switching between displays. Support for Drawing Tablet and iPad Works with drawing tablets from Wacom, XP-Pen and similar. Supports Sidecar and Astropad to route iPad and Apple pencil input directly into Presentify on the Mac. Rich Keyboard Shortcuts & Stream Deck Support Nearly every action in the app can be triggered with a remappable keyboard shortcut, and shortcuts integrate seamlessly with Stream Deck for fast tool switching during live sessions. Dock and Menu Bar Icon Preferences As of version 8.1.0 Presentify has a Dock icon in addition to the menu bar icon. The Dock icon has a right-click menu for quick access and the user can choose to keep either or both icons visible. Copy Annotated Screen to Clipboard Added in 8.1.0 Copy an annotated screen (or copy and paste separate annotations) directly to the clipboard for faster sharing of marked-up screenshots.
