Bear Mac 2.9.2 Shiny Frog Bear is an award-winning, Apple Design Award-winning Markdown note-taking app with nested tags, Workspaces, wiki-style linking, Mermaid diagrams, and a built-in CLI — built for writers and students who’ve outgrown a flat notes inbox.

Download Bear Mac 2.9.2 Overview

Bear is a writing-first Markdown note-taking app for macOS, iOS, iPadOS and Apple Watch. It combines a clean, beautiful editor with an organization model that is entirely based on flexible tags instead of folders. Notes are written in Markdown, and there's a hybrid editor that shows you both the syntax and styled output as you write. Hide Markdown (added in Bear 2) keeps the formatting marks out of the way for a cleaner reading view, until you select a word for editing. Bear’s tags can be nested with slash syntax (#project/subtopic), pinned in the sidebar, and used to compose Workspaces — right-clicking a tag focuses the whole app on that topic, showing only matching notes and related sidebar tags, archive and trash entries included, within the same scope. Related notes are linked together using wiki-style links to form a personal knowledge base, and an info panel shows a table of contents and backlinks for longer documents. Inline photos, sketches (drawn directly with Apple Pencil or finger), file attachments, and scanned documents can also live in the same note. In Bear 2, the rebuilt Panda text-editing system added tables, footnotes, and YAML support, alongside a big cross-platform speed boost. Version 2.9.2 added Mermaid support, enabling charts and diagrams to be built in-line inside notes, as well as fixes for a BearCLI data-loss issue, a search defect that could cause infinite loops, and an updated keyboard shortcut for dismissing a workspace. Bear needs macOS 12.4 or later. Bear is free to download and has basic local note-taking. Bear Pro (subscription with a 7-day trial) has iCloud sync, more themes, OCR search through images and PDFs, encryption and more export formats.
