Download Bookends Mac 15.4.3.3.7 Overview

Bookends is a commercial reference management application for macOS. It is designed to help students, academics and professionals search, collect, organise, annotate, sync and cite references, PDFs and related materials for academic, research and professional writing. It’s for anyone who regularly produces work that needs formal citations and bibliographies, from student essays to published research papers. References and associated metadata are pulled directly from the big academic databases and sites, including PubMed, PubMed Central, Google Scholar, JSTOR, Google Books, Web of Science, arXiv, the Library of Congress, and hundreds of other institutions, with no manual input. Bookends provides a What You See Is What You Want (WYSIWYW) interface that offers an interactive, editable workspace that can be configured to display and organise reference information in whatever manner is most useful to a given project. Unlimited multi-level hierarchical folders and groups (both static and smart) are available. Bookends does more than reference collection. It also provides full PDF annotation and full-text search of any attached documents. Users can perform simultaneous searches of their library and the contents of their attached PDFs to find exactly the articles they are seeking. Citation inspectors are embedded in Microsoft Word and Mellel, and give you instant access to reference metadata, notes and PDF annotations as you write, so Bookends feels like it’s built into the word processor itself. The app can import references from EndNote, Papers, Sente, Zotero and Mendeley, integrate live links with apps such as Tinderbox, DEVONthink and Scrivener and is fully AppleScript-able for automation. Synchronises libraries (and attached PDFs) with the companion Bookends for iOS app on iPhone and iPads. Bookends version 15.4.3.3.7 is part of the actively maintained 15.x line of Bookends and recent App Store release notes indicate it includes a fixed Library search issue, updated Google Books search handling for recent Google API changes, a fix for shared PDFs sometimes attaching to the wrong reference, and removal of iPadOS multi-window support specifically to improve shared PDF import reliability. Bookends requires macOS 11 or later and is available for direct download from Sonny Software’s website, via Homebrew or from the Mac App Store.
