LensFlare Studio 2 1.0 Overview

LensFlare Studio is a light manipulation and optical effects editor for macOS. Designed for photographers, graphic designers and anyone looking to add cinematic light effects to photos, logos, titles or other visual work. Rather than painting flare shapes by hand or searching through stock overlay images, LensFlare Studio provides a library of over 100 high resolution optical effects - lens flares, natural sunlight, anamorphic flares, sci-fi style flares, streaks, glows, glares and bokeh - all of which respond dynamically as the light source is repositioned, realistically simulating different lens types, reflections and edge glare. It uses a layer-based workflow, with an image loaded into the main preview window, effects added one at a time from a panel on the right and a lower pane for tweaking the filters, properties and texture of each effect. Stack effects, move effects around, drag the center point of a flare, or Option-Click to offset it… just a few clicks and you’re on your way to a polished, cinematic result. LensFlare Studio 2 also added 15 new Lens Filters (Cinematic, Futuristic, Gothic, Warm, Cool, Greyscale, Vignette, and more) to stylise an image beyond the core flare effects. Supports many import formats including Photoshop PSD files, and any image size, export to lossless TIFF, PNG or compressed JPG, preserve original EXIF data. One important note: BrainFeverMedia has since moved on to a newer flagship app, Infinite Photo, which brings together cinematic flares, filters, layers and broader photo tools into one app – well worth a look if you want the most actively-maintained release from the developer.

Key Features

100+ High Resolution Optical FX Select from a large library of lens flares, natural sun effects, anamorphic flares, sci-fi flares, streaks, glows, glares and bokeh – all in high resolution for professional results. Light Dynamics Responsive Rather than using a static overlay, each effect dynamically simulates a different type of lens, reflections and edge glare as the light source is moved through the image. Stacking effects in layers Stack multiple effect layers on one image and tweak filters, properties and texture of each layer in a lower pane of the interface. Live Preview Changes to flares, filters and positioning are updated live in the main preview window so that you can quickly fine-tune an effect before committing to it. 15 Lens Filters (v2) LensFlare Studio 2 also features additional stylistic filters like Cinematic, Futuristic, Gothic, Warm, Cool, Greyscale, Vignette and more to further customise the overall look of an image. Option-click to control offset Option-Click to offset flare center point. This is useful for positioning flare elements to the side of the primary flare, while keeping the primary flare where you want it. Wide format support Import a wide variety of image types, including Photoshop PSD files and RAW images up to large pixel dimensions, and export to lossless TIFF, PNG, or compressed JPG. Preserving EXIF Data If you edit an image and export it, the original EXIF metadata is preserved, so that camera and shooting information can be retained through the editing process. Browsing Effects by Category Use Category buttons to help organise your effects library and make it easier to browse to a particular style of flare or lighting effect instead of scrolling through an unorganised list.
