Xrider 1.5.2 by Nuro Audio is a zero-latency vocal rider plug-in that keeps vocals consistently and transparently in a mix, with real-time waveform display, TrueGain adjustment history and independent Target, Range and Speed controls.

Nuro Audio Xrider 1.5.2 Mac Overview

Xrider is a Vocal Rider plugin for Mac, Windows in Audio Unit, VST3, AAX formats. It is described as the most versatile vocal rider ever created, and is designed to keep vocals perfectly placed in a mix by automatically riding gain levels, so users don’t have to worry about guesswork with manual vocal level automation. Unlike a normal compressor, Xrider is transparent. It doesn’t crush dynamics or create an unnatural, over-compressed vocal sound. Instead, Xrider makes sample-accurate gain moves in real time with zero added latency, giving engineers a totally transparent way to keep the vocal level consistent. The interface of the plugin is very visual, so you can see exactly what Xrider is doing at any time – the interaction of Target, Minimum and Maximum settings directly with the incoming waveform, and a real-time history of gain changes displayed in the TrueGain line. Xrider 1.5.2 is a part of the steady maintenance cycle by Nuro Audio after 1.5.1 general bug fixes, optimisations and stability improvements. Xrider is a Universal 2 Binary – it runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs and requires macOS 11 or later. It’s surprisingly lightweight, up to 50% lighter than comparable rider plugins thanks to its next-generation audio DSP algorithms.

Key Features

Live Gain Visualisation See precisely how the Target, Minimum and Maximum settings influence the incoming waveform in real time and eliminate the guesswork of setting vocal levels manually. TrueGain History Line Xrider TrueGain line, a clean visual record of how the vocal level has been shaped from the beginning to the end of a performance. See a real-time, accurate history of every gain adjustment made by Xrider. Range Control and Independent Target Set a Target level for how much Xrider should push the vocal level independently of either direction. This allows for a small range of subtle finishing touches or a larger range for keeping highly dynamic vocal performances in one place. Speed control, variable Set the speed at which Xrider responds to the incoming signal – slower speeds give you a more gentle, human-like vocal ride, faster speeds give you a more reactive ride that keeps vocals locked tightly into the mix. Sample Accurate Processing Zero Latency Xrider does sample accurate gain moves in real time, without adding any latency to the signal chain which is very important in tracking and live monitoring situations. All Transparent Ride Xrider doesn’t squash the vocal so you don’t get the audible artefacts and over-processed character you hear on a lot of vocals, but instead just lifts the level of the vocal in a transparent way so the performance remains natural, but is still consistently forward in the mix. DSP Performance Lightweight Powered by next-generation audio DSP algorithms, Xrider runs up to 50% lighter than comparable vocal rider plugins, reducing CPU load in sessions with multiple instances. Includes Pro Presets Xrider provides presets to get you started professionally straight away. No need to build a rider setting from scratch each time, just one click and you’re set. Compatible with compressors Xrider is intended to be used with a compressor, not in place of a compressor – the combo of compressor and XRider eliminates the squashed, unnatural vocal sound that can occur when just a compressor is used for dynamic control.

How to Use Nuro Audio Xrider 1.5.2 Mac

Step 1: Get Xrider Download Xrider for macOS 11 or later from the macospace.com website, in the plugin format you require (AU, VST3 or AAX). Step 2: Install & Run Install the plugin and load it on your vocal track in your DAW. Step 3: Select a Pro Preset Try one of the Xrider presets to get a feel for the plugin response and then adjust the settings yourself. Step 4: Select Your Target Level This is the Target level you want your vocal to sit at in the mix and is the baseline Xrider will ride to. Step 5: Set Minimum and Maximum Range Adjusts the amount Xrider can raise or lower the vocal volume on his own. Narrow range for subtle correction, wide range for highly dynamic performances. Step 6. Fine tune the speed control Adjust Xrider response speed to suit material. Slower for soft, natural ride and faster for tighter, more reactive control. Step 7 - Waveform and TrueGain Line Monitoring Monitor how your Target, Minimum, and Maximum settings interact with the incoming waveform, and review the TrueGain line to see exactly what adjustments Xrider is making. Step 8: Add a Compressor Xrider is not a replacement to your existing compressor - it is an addition to your existing compressor. Let Xrider do the overall level consistency and let the compressor do the shorter term dynamics. 9. ADJUST TO TASTE Listen back and adjust the Target, Range and Speed settings until the vocal sounds natural and sits well in the mix.
